Telephone
Local Calls: From a pay telephone calls can be dialed directly
by inserting the necessary number of coins. Coins are not
needed for emergency calls (dial 911) , 800, charge
calls, or directory assistance (411) calls. Other local calls
cost 35 cents in exact change and can be paid for with a combination
of quarters (25 cents), nickels (5 cents) and dimes (10 cents).
You may also charge local calls to a calling card or a credit
card.
International Calls: International call can be made from
a pay telephone by inserting the necessary number of coins.
Press 011 + country code + city codes, press "00" for international
operator assistance. The call is free. International calling
cards, charge cards, and debit cards also can be used to make
international calls. The front of each pay telephone should
state the carrier and method of payment available at that
particular station.
To place collect, calling card and person-to-person calls,
press 01 + country code + city code + telephone number.
Hotel Calls: When calling from a hotel room, carefully read
all instructions that apply to telephone calls or contact
the hotel operator to ascertain charges that may apply. Hotels
charge for local calls and for long distance calls. Often
it is a percentage of the cost of the call and can be quite
expensive.
When calling from some business or store telephones, it is
necessary to access an outside line before dialing the number,
