Unceremonial
In today's ceremonial first tee shot, Arnold Palmer won't be sidling up to any surprise partners. At least not any of the Golden Bear variety.
Roars from Bear's 1986 charge still echo
The writers had written him off. Washed up. Finished. Kaput.
Lundquist's calls are Masters lore
Verne Lundquist has been part of the CBS Sports golf crew since 1983 and has called the action at the Masters Tournament every year since then, except 1997-98. Lundquist, 65, has covered everything from pro football to the Olympics in his career, but to golf fans he is probably best known for two of his Masters calls: Jack Nicklaus' birdie at No. 17 in 1986, and Tiger Woods' chip-in at No. 16 in 2005. He recently spoke with Sports Editor John Boyette about his role on the Masters broadcast:
Nicklaus gives 'the whole dose'
"Everybody got enough?" That is the standard question Jack Nicklaus asks reporters at the end of one of his news conferences.
Putter safe in history, not in garage
One of the most enduring images of Jack Nicklaus from the 1986 Masters Tournament is his reaction to a birdie putt falling into the hole at No. 17, a smile on his face and his putter aloft.
Bear softens blows at National
Jack Nicklaus didn't miss a beat when he met the press Wednesday morning at Augusta National Golf Club.
CBS has specials on Tiger, Nicklaus
CBS will go heavy on the nostalgia when it serves up coverage of the Masters Tournament for the 51st consecutive year.
Nicklaus' '86 victory is frozen in time
Jack Nicklaus is 20 years removed from his stirring victory in the Masters Tournament, yet it still resonates with the public.
Change truly does Tiger good
Every time Jack Nicklaus says goodbye to a major championship, Tiger Woods leaves the same going away message.
