Shot of the day: Tiger's birdie on 18

Web posted 04/13/97

Tiger Woods' birdie on the 18th hole gave him a third-round 65 and a record nine-stroke lead in the 61st Masters Tournament. Here is how he played it:

Driver cut down the center of the fairway approximately 300 yards, leaving him 106 yards to the upper ridge of the green and 109 yards to the hole, which was set back right.

Woods chose sand wedge, the ball hit just in the right fringe and spun back to within 1 foot of the hole for a tap-in birdie. The birdie made Woods 13-under in 27 back-nine holes this week.
