Hand injury forces Lickliter to WD

Web posted 04/12/02

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - Frank Lickliter withdrew from the Masters on Friday with a hand injury.

Lickliter shot 1-over-par 73 in the first round, but pulled out before his second round began. Officials at Augusta National did not know which hand was hurt.

This was Lickliter's second Masters. In 1999, he shot 72-77 and missed the cut.

He joined Hal Sutton on the sideline. Before the opening round Thursday, Sutton pulled out with an injury to his right side.
