...my favorite Master's moment

Matt Kuchar (1998, 1999)

My first year, I remember I had a pretty nice first and second round. Before the third round, I'd had my breakfast and I was sitting around the locker room with nothing to do and there was still a while before I teed off, so I decided I'd go watch some golf. I went out as a spectator. I went down to No. 10, 11 and 12. My name was on the bottom of the scoreboards. I was following golfers around and somebody said, 'look up there, your name's on the leaderboard.' It was pretty cool.

I have so many great memories. Playing a practice round with Jack Nicklaus , who's the defending champion, on Tuesday. Getting paired with Arnold Palmer the first day. Every day it seemed like something was cool. One day I played a practice round with Fuzzy Zoeller and Hubert Green and joked around with them. I played the par-3 tournament with Jay Haas and Bob Goalby . Then playing the first round with Arnold. I was on the Arnold Palmer Scholarship at Wake Forest so he paid for my education. I was the kid, the hot shot and I got to play with the guy who took care of me through college. So that was pretty neat. My girlfriend at the time was working in London and she came back for the tournament and she's my wife today.

Scott Hoch (1979)

I played with Arnold (Palmer) the first round. If my memory serves me correctly, I had him by seven shots after three holes. I started out good and he started off very poorly. He brought it back and I lost a few (Hoch shot 72 to Palmer's 74). I really enjoyed it because I saw the atmosphere the way it should be. Arnold still had a great following. To play in that type of arena was pretty special.

Just the way you're treated. I think the two groups that are taken care of the best are the past champions and the amateurs. It seemed like, in my book, when you were there you were one of the major attractions. If you're a pro, you're one of 80. If you're an amateur, you're one of five. That was a special thing. You're sought after. You're playing with a former champion in the first two rounds. You never lose those memories. It seems like it goes by so quickly. It seems like you arrived there yesterday and before you know it, you're out of there. It was four rounds and it seemed like one.

Probably just getting to play with Arnold Palmer . That would be an experience in itself, much less to do it at the Masters. It's something I'll cherish the rest of my life. He was a lot of fun to play with. I felt very privileged. He gave me some advice when we played. I was a sophomore in college and he said, 'don't turn pro, go back to school and enjoy yourself. You're going to have a long career out here, you're going to win, you've got all the time in the world. Have fun in school.' I thought it was pretty good advice.

I played Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with Ed Sneed, Tom Weiskopf and Ken Venturi. So I played three rounds at Augusta with one guy (Sneed) who should have won the tournament once, another who should have won it two or three times (Venturi) and another guy who should have won the tournament three or four times (Weiskopf). I was the luckiest kid alive at that point. I was in heaven. It was something else.

Hunter Haas (2000)

Playing a practice round with Arnold Palmer on Tuesday. He was out of golf by the time I started paying attention. But I admire him for everything he stands for and his character. He's a great guy.

Justin Leonard (1993)

Just the whole week was a lot of fun. After seeing the tournament so many times, to be able to play.

Billy Mayfair (1988)

Probably playing in the par-3 tournament. That was a lot of fun. Just all the people there and all the excitement, that to be was something I'll never forget. ---

Hunter Mahan (2003)

Playing with Jack Nicklaus . I played with him the first two days. It was pretty incredible.
