...my trip down Magnolia lane

It was big, the trees were big. It was way different than I thought. I knew about the big trees and the driving ranges were on the left and right. But once you got through it and looked around and looked how big those trees were and looked up the road. I wasn't prepared for that. It was pretty spectacular. I went in with (Ken) Venturi. He prepared me, but nothing really prepares you for that. Everything was just so grand. It was something you'd never seen before.

The entire Thursday (first round, where Driscoll shot 68 and was three shots off the lead). It was just surreal. Shooting 4-under and seeing my name on the leaderboard the entire day is definitely something I'll never forget. We have picture of a leader board with my name on it framed in our house.

I kind of got in trouble about that. When people asked me that, I said, 'shoot, it's just a bunch of trees lined up.' I don't get caught up in all that stuff. It's unique going down there, but if you're from the south, you see those magnolia trees in line and all that stuff. So I'd seen that before. ---

It was awesome. I drove down it with my dad, my little brother and my caddie. It was fun to experience it with them. It was great for me to see my dad's reaction because he's more of a golf nut than I am. He's read everything about golf. To bring that to life for him was a lot of fun for me.

It wasn't as long as I thought it would be. It was in late February or early March when I first went. It was pretty special. It's a neat place

The first time I was probably October or November when I went for a couple of days to play practice rounds. It was cool. I'm a pretty level-headed person so I wasn't about to faint or anything. The weird part was playing those days in November when it was cold. The course was in good shape, but not nearly as good as it gets for the Masters. It was so quiet, being about the only person on the course.

I went there before the tournament. The most memorable time I went down there was in 1993 when I had my rottweilers with me. They drove down there with me and they had their heads out the window and somebody snapped a picture. I've have it blown it up my office.

Going down Magnolia Lane, if you don't love golf, there's something wrong with you.
I went down it a few times. I played a lot of practice rounds in the months before the tournament because I was still in school, but my eligibilty was up. I'd spend three for four days and stay at the Masters Economy Lodge. I could play as much as a I wanted.

That was cool. The road isn't long enough to indulge in it. I remember the first time I went down it, it was pouring down rain. That was one of the wetest years they've ever had. It was pouring rain, but it still seemed like it was sunny out to me.
