President Dwight D. Eisenhower had great influence at Augusta National Golf Club

Today is Presidents Day, and it’s a good time to remember the influence President Dwight D. Eisenhower exerted at Augusta National Golf Club.

Eisenhower made 45 visits to Augusta National – five before his election, 29 while he was president and 11 after he left office – and his trips were often lengthy.

After his death in 1969, Clifford Roberts revealed some of the details about Ike’s golf game and how a certain tree tormented him.

The famous pine tree that was named in his honor is no longer around, but there are plenty of reminders on the golf course and off.
