Happy birthday wishes go out today to Bob Goalby, the 1968 Masters champion. He was born on this day in 1929.

Goalby’s win always was overshadowed by the scorecard incident involving Roberto De Vicenzo. Instead of tying and forcing an 18-hole Monday playoff, the golfer from Argentina wound up a shot behind Goalby.

Sadly, Goalby never got the credit he deserved. Who knows what would have happened in the playoff?
