2011 Masters Tournament Sunday Timeline

 

2:40 -- Rory McIlroy tees off with a four-stroke lead at 12-under.

2:42 -- As McIlroy walks up the first fairway, he hears the first roar of the day when Charl Schwartzel's chip finds the cup on the first green for an unlikely birdie.

2:50-- McIlroy bogeys the first. His four-stroke lead is already down to two.

3:14 -- Schwartzel eagles No. 3. McIlroy pars No. 2 and the two become co-leaders at 11-under.

3:23 -- Tiger Woods' second shot on the eighth rolls onto the green for an 8-foot eagle putt attempt.

3:26 -- Schwartzel bogeys No. 4 to lose his share of the lead and fall to 10-under.

3:31 -- Woods makes the eagle putt at No. 8 with a fist pump and a loud roar. He moves to 10-under and into a tie with Schwartzel for second, one stroke behind McIlroy.

3:41 -- Woods hits out of the pinestraw and into the greenside bunker on No. 9.

3:46 -- McIlory misses a par putt on the fifth to fall into a three-way tie for the lead with Woods and Schwartzel.

3:47 -- Woods makes his long par putt at the ninth to stay at 10-under.

4:09 -- McIlroy reclaims the lead with a birdie at No. 7 to move to 11-under.

4:28 -- Woods misses an easy par putt for a three-putt bogey at the 12th to fall to 9-under, two strokes behind McIlroy.

4:32 -- Luke Donald moves to within two strokes of the lead with a birdie at No. 10 to go to 9-under.

4:33 -- Angel Cabrera birdies the par-5 eighth to move to 10-under, a stroke behind leader McIlroy

4:49 -- The final group makes the turn. McIlroy leads by a stroke at 11-under over Schwartzel, K.J. Choi and Cabrera.

4:52 -- McIlroy's round comes unglued when his tee shot on No. 10 ends up between two cabins well to the left of the fairway.

4:57 -- Adam Scott bangs in a long birdie putt at No. 11 to move to within a stroke of the lead.

4:58 -- McIlroy hits his third shot on No. 10 from the fairway into the second cut left of the green.

5:02 -- McIlroy's first chip from the second cut doesn't find the green and stays in the second cut.

5:03 -- McIlroy finally finds the green at No. 10.

5:06 -- McIlroy taps in for 7 at the 10th, falling to 8-under and giving the lead to Scott, Schwartzel, Cabrera and Choi. McIlroy falls into a tie for seventh.

5:08 -- Woods sticks his second shot on the par-5 15th to within five feet.

5:09 -- Ogilvy taps in his third consecutive birdie to move to 8-under through 14, two strokes off the leaders.

5:12 -- Woods' eagle putt lips out. Instead of the outright lead, he moves into a five-way tie for first at 10-under with a birdie.

5:17 -- Choi misses a long par putt on No. 12 to lose his share of the lead and fall to 9-under.

5:23 -- Ogilvy rolls in his fourth consecutive birdie at the 15th to move to 9-under, one stoke off the lead but tied for fifth.

5:25 -- Jason Day birdies the 13th, his second in a row, to grab a share of the lead. It's a five-way tie at 10-under with Woods, Scott, Schwartzel and Cabrera.

5:28 -- McIlroy misses a par putt then misses the comeback to post a double bogey on 12 to fall to 5-under and out of the top 10.

5:33 -- Ogilvy makes his fifth consecutive birdie for 10-under to grab a share of the lead at the 16th.

5:34 -- McIlroy's tee shot on 13 flies left and finds the tributary that runs the length of the fairway. He bogeys the hole to fall to 7-over for the day.

5:36 -- Scott birdies the 14th to grab the outright lead at 11-under.

5:41 -- Bo Van Pelt follows his eagle at No. 13 with another one on the 15th to go to 10-under, a stroke off the lead.

5:47 -- Scott's second shot on No. 15 flies into the patrons well right of the green.

5:49 -- Luke Donald makes a long birdie putt on the 16th to move to 10-under and into a six-way tie for second with Woods, Ogilvy, Day, Schwartzel and Van Pelt, one stroke behind Scott.

5:51 -- Van Pelt bogeys the 16th to drop two strokes back.

5:54 -- Woods pars the 18th for a round of 67 to finish the tournament at 10-under and take the clubhouse lead.

5:55 -- Scott chips out from beside the grandstands right of the 15th hole. His ball comes to rest more than 30 feet past the cup.

6:00 -- Scott makes an 8-foot putt to save par on the 15th and stay a stroke up on the field at 11-under.

6:01 -- Ogilvy taps in for par at the 18th to match Woods with a round of 67 and 10-under for the tournament.

6:03 -- Scott hits his tee shot on the par-3 16th to within a foot.

6:09 -- Schwartzel birdies the 15th to temporarily grab a share of the lead at 11-under.

6:10 -- With Schwartzel watching from the 15th green, Scott taps in for birdie at No. 16 to reclaim the lead at 12-under. Choi follows with a birdie at No. 15 to move to 10-under.

6:14 -- Scott hits his tee shot on No. 17 left on the wrong side of the Eisenhower Tree and the ball lands in a bunker at the seventh green.

6:15 -- Donald, two strokes back at 9-under, hits the flagstick on his approach at the 18th, but the ball bounces off to the front of the green.

6:17 -- Donald's chip from off the green goes in for birdie at the 18th and he finishes tied with Woods and Ogilvy at 10-under.

6:17 -- McIlroy misses his par putt at the 15th to fall to 4-under for the tournament and 8-over for the day.

6:18 -- Schwartzel's long birdie putt on the 16th rolls around the cup and goes in to put him at 12-under with a share of the lead.

6:23 -- Day hits his long birdie putt at the 17th to move to 11-under, one stroke off the leaders.

6:25 -- Scott goes from the seventh green bunker to the 17th green bunker, chips out and saves par to stay at 12-under with a share of the lead.

6:27 -- Cabrera, at 10-under, bogeys the 16th to fall three strokes behind the leaders and out of contention.

6:32 -- Choi misses his 15-foot par putt on the 17th to fall to 9-under and out of contention.

6:33 -- Schwartzel makes the 12-foot birdie putt at the 17th for his third consecutive birdie to claim the outright lead at 13-under, one stroke ahead of Scott with one hole remaining.

6:35 -- Day, at 11-under, sticks his approach on the 18th to within 10 feet for a birdie chance to keep him in the running. He and fellow Australian Scott share a high five.

6:36 -- Schwartzel, with a 1-stroke leads, hit his drive at No. 18 down the center of the fairway.

6:38 -- Scott's birdie putt from about 20 feet runs about 4-feet past the hole.

6:40 -- Day makes his 8-foot birdie putt on the 18th to finish at 12-under, tied with Scott and one stroke behind Schwartzel.

6:41 -- Scott knocks in his 4-foot par putt to also card 12-under for the tournament. Schwartzel needs a par at the 18th to win.

6:43 -- Schwartzel's approach hits the right side of the green, and he makes the walk up No. 18 needing two putts to win.

6:47 -- Schwartzel finishes in style by rolling in a 15-footer for his fourth consecutive birdie, a 66 and a four-round total of 14-under to win his first green jacket.
