Top-ranked Justin Rose will miss his first cut at the Masters.

Rose shot 73 on Friday and missed the 36-hole cut by one shot, which fell at 3-over 147. The top 50 and ties, plus anyone within 10 shots of the leader, qualified for the final 36 holes. Sixty-five players made it to the weekend.

Rose opened with 75 on Thursday to put his streak of 13 made cuts at Augusta National in jeopardy.

He finished at 4-over, 11 shots behind the cut leaders at 7-under.

"Obviously, I was playing terribly this week," Rose said after his round.

Rose was 1-over for the day through 11, but he birdied the 12th and made eagle on the 13th to get to 1 over for the tournament. But he made bogeys on three of his final four holes.

"It looked good at that point, in the middle of fairway at 15, it should be an easy birdie to get back to even par," Rose said. "Terrible finish."

Rose missed a short putt on 18 for par that cost him.

"I had a chance with the 10-shot rule and just missed a 4-footer on the last one, which kind of sums it up," he said.

Among the former Masters champions missing the cut are Sandy Lyle, Mike Weir, Danny Willett, Sergio Garcia, Fred Couples, Charl Schwartzel, Larry Mize, Vijay Singh, Ian Woosnam, Jose Maria Olazabal and Angel Cabrera.

Rose wasn't the only top player to miss the weekend. Paul Casey, ranked No. 11, shot 81-73 for his first missed cut at Augusta National since 2012.
