Kevin Kisner’s day was nearly undone by a double bogey on the par-4 10th hole on Saturday, but the Aiken native battled back for an even-par round of 72 to remain at 2 under for the Masters.

The former University of Georgia golfer posted three birdies and a bogey on the back nine. He's tied for 31st overall.

After making the turn at even par, Kisner’s tee shot on No. 10 sailed right of the fairway and buried into the second cut. His second shot landed awkwardly behind the bunker off the right of the green and he flew his third shot well over it.

A chip back up the hill never reached the green and Kisner two-putted for the double bogey.

“I didn't make any putts and I think I hit 16 greens and shot even par," Kisner said. "I just didn't have the straight putts, I had a lot of big swingers that had a lot of speed and I didn't make any of them early. Then I just made a terrible double on 10."

The 35-year-old rebounded from his double bogey with a birdie at No. 11, where he sank an 18-foot putt.

On the par-5 13th hole, Kisner’s second shot into the green landed about eight feet from the pin before rolling backward, and he settled for a two-putt birdie. A bogey at the par-4 14th was erased by a birdie at the par-5 15th.

After being on the leaderboard after the first round, Kisner is almost certainly out of contention after a day of low scores from other golfers.

“I just need to go try to shoot low and move up the board,” Kisner said. “That’s the only thing I can do.”
