A rough start took Bernhard Langer out of the race early in the final round, but it marked another impressive finish for the veteran.

Langer entered Sunday in the next-to-last pairing just two strokes back of the lead in a tie for third. The morning brought a storm of what-ifs with Langer bidding to become the oldest Masters Tournament champion.

The bid ended early, however, as the 58-year-old faltered on the front nine with bogeys on Nos. 1 and 5 and a double bogey on No. 3. He shot 7-over-par 79 to finish 6-over in a tie for 24th.

Langer produced another high finish despite often being much older than his competitors. He tied for eighth in 2014 and tied for 25th in 2013. His third-round 70 was bested only by a final-round 69 in 2014 for lowest since 2010.
