Fred Couples out of Masters Tournament due to back problems

Fred Couples, the 1992 Masters Tournament champion, will not play in the 2016 Masters Tournament.

Couples is out of the competition due to acute back problems. His condition hasn't improved enough for him to play in this year's tournament.

Couples, 56 years old, missed the cut at the 2015 Masters but had played through the weekend from 2010 to 2014. He has 11 top-10 finishes at the Masters.
