TOP OF THE WORLD: Matt Kuchar won’t be surprised if he’s paired with Luke Donald, the world’s No. 1-ranked player, in the first two rounds of this week’s Masters Tournament.
It would be the third consecutive year the former Georgia Tech star has played the first two rounds of the Masters Tournament with the No. 1-ranked player.
In 2010, it was Tiger Woods who was in Kuchar’s group. Last year, Kuchar was paired with Kaymer, who was No. 1 at the time of the Masters.
The pairings for Thursday’s first round will be released Tuesday afternoon.
“I never really thought about it, other than those are some good guys to play with,” Kuchar said Sunday. “Maybe it’s luck of the draw – lucky me, huh? I like playing with good players – everybody out here is a good player – but it’s always fun to play with a guy who is on good form. If he’s ranked No. 1 in the world, he’s playing some good golf. The better somebody is playing, hopefully the better I play.”
