Justin Rose walks to the No. 14 tee during the second round of the 2015 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.

Justin Rose might not own a green jacket, but he’s no stranger to making noise at the midway mark of the Masters Tournament.

Rose opened Thursday with 5-under 67 and backed that up Friday with 2-under 70 to grab a share of third place with Dustin Johnson and Paul Casey.

In Rose’s 10 Masters appearances, he has held the lead in 2004, sat in fourth place in 2007 and was seventh in 2013 after 36 holes.

On Friday, the 2013 U.S. Open champion recovered from a shaky start with three early bogeys dropping him to 2-under for the tournament.

However, he had the answer finding six birdies over the last 14 holes leaving him seven shots behind leader Jordan Spieth.

The highlights of Rose’s round arrived on the second nine at each par 3.

At No. 12 he hit his tee shot to within seven feet and made the birdie putt moving him to 6-under.

His final birdie came at No. 16 when all he needed for birdie was to make a 4-footer following his terrific tee shot.

Rose has to be feeling good about his chances of continuing his success.

His 67 on Thursday tied his best round played in a Masters – he has 38 rounds under his belt – and the last time he reached the midway mark in the top five he produced his best Masters finish tying for fifth in 2007.
