Snedeker shoots even par to stay in contention

Brandt Snedeker kept his expectations in check in the second round.

In the windy conditions, Snedeker posted even-par 72 on Friday to finish with a 1-under-par 143 total at the halfway mark.

“You have to kind of reel in expectations,” he said. “When you do have birdie putts, you need to be making them. You might have four legit birdie putts in a round. You can be aggressive; on those you have to be aggressive. You can’t just make your putt and move on. You need to give those a good run and make sure you put good rolls on them.”

Snedeker needed 30 putts to navigate his second round. He barely needed his putter on the final hole of the day. At No. 18, he hit his approach from 164 yards to one foot, with the birdie putting him in red numbers for the tournament.
