Time Piecez (Michael Holahan/Staff)
Posters add to club's character
Large, framed posters of movies and actors (John Wayne, Scarface, Pulp Fiction, The Godfather, The Blues Brothers, Saturday Night Fever, Natural Born Killers) and posters of music icons (Prince, David Bowie and Motley Crew) hang side-by-side near the ceiling above exceptionally comfy half-circle booths along one wall, and above the bar that runs the length of the other wall.
"The bands and movies represent different pieces of time," said Jamie Long, explaining the significance of the club's name. Mr. Long and his brother Jason Long are co-owners. "That's why I got the different records," Mr. Long continued, referring to the vinyl albums and singles of popular hits from decades ago that are sealed into the countertop of the bar.
Friday nights are laid back, a time for the brothers to play a variety of old and new rock, pop or whatever type of music they or the crowd would like to hear.
On Thursdays, the club's busiest nights, D.J. Sal spins today's hip-hop and rhythm and blues. On Saturdays, he mixes hip-hop and R&B from the '70s and '80s with a little from today. D.J. Sal also will play a special blend of music depending on the crowd at the club's dressy-casual Christmas party Saturday, which will feature beer and drink specials all night and free cocktails and hors d'oeuvres from 8 to 10 p.m.
Regular hours are 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Drink specials are offered each night, and there's no cover on Fridays. On Thursdays and Saturdays, admission costs $5, but ladies get in free before 11 p.m. on Thursdays.
Time Piecez is a cool place to have drinks or go dancing alone or with friends. And with the multitude of posters and records scattered about doubling as excellent conversation starters, it's also a great spot to meet new friends.
