Eight of Augusta's must visit clubs

A city's nightlife is one telltale aspect of its livelihood. Scattered about Augusta and neighboring cities are a multitude of clubs, pubs, bars and pool halls to suit a variety of ages, races and musical tastes. There are places to dance or do karaoke, places to mingle or chill, places to sip brews and watch sports.

Open well past sundown, entertainment spots are ready to cater to everyone from the sober, low-key to the mellow drinker to the all out party animal. If you're a local or an out-of-towner, consider these after-hours joints.

Coconuts: Want to judge a bikini contest, drink flavored shooters or sing karaoke? How about reserving the complimentary limo for you and your friends? Do it all plus dance to today's hip-hop and pop hits at this Surrey Center treat. Full review

Blind Pig Speakeasy: Unleash the Blues lover in you along with the bands that play five of the six nights this Broad Street joint is open. Shoot pool, get drinks and listen to classic hits until the band is ready. Full review

Soul Bar: This Augusta staple is not to be overlooked. With a live band or a DJ playing a diverse mix of music to a diverse, friendly bunch, patrons show their soul on the dance floor or mingle up front or at the bar. Full review

Coyote's: Love country music? You better because cowboy hats, cowboy boots and live country music are rampant at this south side tavern. Go early if you've got two left feet and get free line dancing lessons. Full review

A Touch of Class: Groove to classic r&b in the old school lounge, or shake your tailfeather to today's bangin' hip-hop in the young adult lounge. With two clubs under one roof for one cover, party in each and have the best both worlds. Full review

The Break Room: With Shania Twain, U2 and Cher in the jukebox and nearly two dozen pool tables, pool sharks are right at home in this well-lighted, immaculate pub. Munch on wings, crawfish or steak sandwiches at the elevated bar or outside on the patio, or party with a live band in the attached club. Full review

Modjeska Ultra Lounge and Cocktails: A downtown wonder with a big city feel. Dance to today's hits or Salsa music, see a comedy show, or hang out in the VIP room or on one of several couches. Or pick from two bars and get any drink imaginable at this upscale lounge.Full review
