Female fans have favorites

Lynne Corr was enjoying the scenery at Augusta National Golf Course Wednesday morning, but she wasn't looking at the azaleas.

``Oh, he's cute!'' she breathed to a female companion as Stewart Cink sank a 10-foot putt at Hole 1 during practice rounds Wednesday.

Corr, a Flowery Branch, Ga., native isn't particular about her favorite golfers.

``Some of them I don't even know their names,'' she said. ``Ernie Els - he's a cutie.''

Golf fans or not, the female contingent is certainly vocal about its fairway favorites.

While screaming and fainting is pretty much taboo during tee-off, there are plenty adoring fans roaming the Augusta National, including packs of giggling girls snapping photos as golf players stroll by.

Australian amateur Aaron Baddeley is frequently seen being followed by hordes of girls toting disposable cameras.

But when it comes down to favorites, Fred Couples wins sexiest swing and prettiest putt. His admirers say his appeal is equal parts look and dress.

Maybe it's his visor, which gives his hair a sort of sexy sun-kissed gleam.

Lauren Hammock and Missy Lewis, 15-year-olds from Greenbriar High School in Augusta, say they're rooting for Couples to win this year's Masters. Why?

``Because he's cute!''

``We're not really golf fans,'' Lauren admitted.

But their male family members keep them updated on who's good and who's not. And talent definitely adds to sex appeal.

Tiger Woods is the oft-mentioned favorite by women of all ages.

``He's accomplished so much at such a young age,'' said Janet Greenlees of Birmingham, Mich. ``And he wears it so well.''

Jack Nicklaus is the best-looking golf player as far as Augusta-native Lisa Williams is concerned.

Williams' friend Julianne Roberson said she favors Greg Norman.

``I don't know anything about golf,'' Roberson said. ``I do like to come and watch them though.''
