Fans corner
All's fair in friendship: Sitting among the pines just beyond Amen Corner, Jacksonville, Fla., residents Don Braddock and Skip Lampe poked fun at each other.
"I couldn't find anybody else to bring, so I invited him," Braddock said with a laugh.
Lampe, clad in a University of Georgia hat, rolled his eyes.
"It's a beautiful place. I think it was worth the trip - I know it is," he said, a University of Florida hat atop his head. His thoughts quickly turned to the Gators.
"You know, we won the national championship three times: two in basketball and one in football," he said.
Lampe made another face.
"I have to listen to this all the way home," he said.
SPRING BREAK: Ali Herlong, 14, will have an interesting story to tell when she gets back to Schofield Middle School in Aiken.
"I went to the Masters and had a blast," the eighth-grader said.
Watching action from the 18th hole with her father, David, Ali was getting an up-close look at a sport she's learning to enjoy.
"She loves seeing Tiger (Woods), and she's waiting to see Phil Mickelson," her father said.
THE RIGHT PLACE: Bryce Johnson, 16, and Graham Johnson, 14, of Des Moines, Iowa, found the perfect spot to add to their golf ball collections.
The high school golfers - who aren't related - set up at the end of No. 18, where golfers would exit their final green. They called to caddies all morning and got nine balls.
On their first visit to the tournament, the two operated like regulars - thanks to some inside information.
"We asked the guys in the green jackets," Bryce said.
