The Garden City is just one stop on a two-week trip across the South for Jim and Janet Hope, who flew over from England.

Also on their itinerary is Helen, Ga., and Hilton Head Island, S.C. Janet just turned 50, which was the motivation for the couple's vacation.

Because Saturday was mainly a washout, Jim and Janet used the last day of play to scope out the scenery. "We're just taking everything in," he said.

Each year, they try to spend some time in Florida golfing, but Jim confesses he and his wife are definitely amateurs.

"We mainly just hack around," he said.

< p>DRESSED IN YELLOW: For Lakeside High School student David Wilcox, the best part about being a litter worker at the Masters is face time with golf stars.

Which ones were most courteous? He called tournament newcomer Ben Crane and 2001 British Open winner David Duval the nicest and referred to past Masters winner Vijay Singh as "just a good guy."

He got a dozen of the golfers' signatures on a baseball cap that he says he sold to a patron for $150.

Wilcox, a basketball and lacrosse player at Lakeside, said his coach chose him for the job.

"Our coach picked the athletes that are considered to be the most reliable," he said.

LONG DAY: Atlanta isn't too far from Augusta, yet David Kaufman and Pam Scudellari had to leave the capital at about 5 a.m. to get in a full day at the Masters.

Kaufman has been to the tournament 11 of the past 12 years, and his girlfriend was making her first appearance.

Sitting to the side of the 16th green, he said that it seemed like the perfect spot - that is until the sun moved, forcing them to do the same.

"I've never been to the Masters on Sunday, so I wanted to be in a position where we could see 16 and 15 and catch 6, too," he said.

Kaufman was pulling for Ernie Els or Fred Couples, and Scudellari crossed her fingers that Phil Mickelson would secure another Masters victory.

"Oh, and who's that cutie patootie?" she asked Kaufman. "Stuart Appleby. I like him, too."
