Transportation

Augusta's transportation offerings include two airports, plenty of taxicab services and a city transit system.

Augusta Regional Airport is seven miles from downtown Augusta on Doug Barnard Parkway, south of Bobby Jones Expressway.

In 2003, the airport acquired a new airline provider - Continental Express. Two other carriers - US Airways Express and Atlantic Southeast Airlines - also serve Augusta Regional.

The commercial/private airport is gearing up for the start of construction on a $30 million terminal after Masters Week 2004.

Daniel Field has two lighted runways and serves charter flights in and out of Augusta.

Augusta also has plenty of taxicab services. One of the largest fleets is Radio Cabs on Greene Street in downtown Augusta. There's also a luxury car service called Augusta Corporate Car Services in Martinez that provides chauffeured Lincoln Town Cars.

The city's bus system - Augusta Public Transit - services downtown areas and has recently added a North Augusta stop off Georgia Avenue. The fleet consists of 23 buses and seven handicapped-accessible vans.

IT'S A FACT:
