The Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics complex forms the core of MCG HealthCare's facilities. It provides a wide range of patient services.

Located in west Augusta, Doctors Hospital is a 354-bed full-service facility and home to the nationally acclaimed Joseph M. Still Burn Center.

Doctors Hospital offers a wide variety of medical services, including a 24-hour emergency department, day surgery services, outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic services, physical and occupational therapy, cardiopulmonary services, radiology and nuclear medicine.

Services also extend beyond the traditional inpatient setting. Additional facilities operated by Doctors Hospital include a Breast Diagnostic Center, providing diagnostic testing for breast cancer, and the West Augusta Radiation Oncology Center, providing therapeutic treatment for cancer patients. Its newest facility, Doctors Hospital Surgery Center in Evans, offers day surgery services to the growing Columbia County area.

Doctors Hospital was recently named one of the 100 Top Hospitals, a national award for superior performance by hospitals with regard to high quality of care, efficient delivery of care, and value to its patients and community.

University Hospital has grown from a two-story wooden building in 1818 to a multifaceted system of care that touches the lives of thousands annually.

As a community, not-for-profit health care system, University offers a range of services to people living throughout the Central Savannah River Area of Georgia and South Carolina.

The cornerstone of University Health Care System is University Hospital, a 612-bed hospital. University also offers its specialty centers, including the University Breast Health Center; Georgia Heart Institute; W.G. Watson, M.D., Women's Center; and Harry W. Jernigan Jr. Cancer Center.

In 1999, 2000 and 2001, University was the Consumer Choice Award winner for health care in the Augusta Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The system scored highest locally in the national survey conducted by National Research Corporation and was ranked most preferred by area residents.

While more than 21,000 patients are admitted to University Hospital each year, 10,000 more are observed on a 23-hour outpatient basis. About 3,000 of these visits are in the Observation Stay Unit.

Walton Rehabilitation Hospital exists to improve the health status and enhance the quality of life for people with physical disabilities. This inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation hospital offers a complete continuum of care for individuals with disabilities. It includes Walton Pain Center, Walton Community Services and Walton Options for Independent Living and Walton Foundation for Independence.

In 1988, Walton Rehabilitation Hospital opened its doors to treat individuals for strokes, head and spinal cord injuries, and other disabilities. The 58-bed hospital is a joint venture between University Health Services Inc. and St. Joseph Center for Life Inc. With its strong commitment to patient well-being, the hospital is certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

Established in 1952, St. Joseph Hospital serves the community of Augusta with medical, surgical, pediatric, rehabilitative, and inpatient hospice services. In addition, the facility offers home and hospice care to residents in 19 counties. St. Joseph is also known for its comprehensive diagnostic services, including cardiac catheterization, magnetic resonance imaging, an endoscopic unit, and an Osteoporosis-Bone Center.

Aiken Regional Medical Centers opened in 1917 as the Aiken Hospital and Relief Society.

Today it offers a 225-bed acute care facility with a variety of specialties and services. Aiken Regional Medical Centers is owned and operated by Universal Health Services Inc.

The medical staff includes more than 100 physicians representing a variety of specialities. More than 85 percent of the medical staff is board certified with many board certified in more than one specialty.

Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center

Eisenhower is the military medical center of the Southeastern United States.

The 300-bed facility is also the specialized treatment center for the Defense Department's Region 3 TRICARE. The Southeast Regional Medical Command, a headquarters facility for the Southeastern United States, is also part of Fort Gordon's medical complex.

The medical center is also a medical teaching facility for residents in both surgical and primary care specialties with emphasis on research and state-of-the-art specialty care.

The hospital began in World War II when it was the Camp Gordon Station Hospital built in 1941.

With the recent implementation of TRICARE, Eisenhower's mission is to continue to provide quality Medicare care for all DOD beneficiaries within the Southeastern United States.
