Oliver Wilson Diary: Seeing familiar faces makes return special

Masters Week is a homecoming of sorts for 28-year-old Englishman Oliver Wilson, who played college golf for Augusta State University from 2000 to 2003. Wilson became the school's only three-time All-American and as a senior was briefly ranked the No. 1 collegiate golfer. Wilson will be sharing his experiences in his Masters debut with The Augusta Chronicle in a daily diary.

I dropped some stuff over at the house and went over to Forest Hills and watched the (Augusta State) guys for about a half-hour. I really didn't get much time to be out there. They looked like they were doing pretty well. Back-to-back victories is pretty impressive. It's good to see them in form. Hopefully, I can get in that form for this week.

I've got a lot of interviews scheduled today. It's good to get them all out of the way so I can concentrate on the tournament this week.

The Masters Tournament is the closest thing I've got to a home tournament, I guess. I spent five years trying to get back here. Now I look forward to getting out there and seeing how I can do.

I played two practice rounds out there Monday and Tuesday. It's not easy. You're going to have to play well. But it is scoreable. I feel like I can do well around there. I hope I play well, really. I just need to prepare and get everything in order so I can get going.

I learned a lot about the greens. I literally walked the course for five hours chipping and putting and getting all the reads on where all the pin positions are going to be. I took a lot of notes.

I think it's going to be the same as pretty much any other major out there. It's just I'll know a lot more people. At the end of the day, you still have to go out and play golf. Once I get out there tomorrow, I'll focus on my golf and do what I need to do.

This is a familiar area, but I've never stayed in a house here before. It's obviously going to be hard to get any reservations (at a restaurant). I'll probably be in the house most of the week.

I've got quite a lot of the guys from the (Augusta State) team coming in as well as a few older sponsors. I'm really looking forward to catching up with everyone.

I think (fiance Lauren Smith) is looking forward to catching up with everyone as well. She can hang out with everyone a bit more. I think she's looking forward to the whole week.
