WHERE TO GO: Practice Range
With bad weather expected today -- the forecast is calling for a high in the mid-50s and winds up to 25 mph -- some players might choose not to play a practice round.
Instead, they might spend time on the practice range or the practice putting green.
This will be the final year that players will use the facility adjacent to Magnolia Lane. Next year, they will use the practice area now under construction in the former main parking lot.
Some players have hit the ball over the tall net that guards Washington Road. The center of the net is about 265 yards from the back steps of the practice tee and stands 105 feet tall.
MEET THE ROOKIE: Alvaro Quiros
Q: What was your impression of the course?
A: Today wasn't a great day to judge it, I hope. The greens were very hilly, and that will be key.
Q: You're a long hitter. Where do you get all that power from?
A: I'm 190 centimeters (6 feet, 3 inches). I've got long arms and long legs. I guess that helps.
Q: You are a big fan of the James Bond films. Which one is your favorite?
A: Tomorrow Never Dies (with Pierce Brosnan as 007). I like some of the older ones, too. (But) I grew up with the new ones. I like Roger Moore and Sean Connery, too.
The 26-year-old Spaniard, ranked No. 27 in the world, is playing in his first Masters. He played a practice round with Jose Maria Olazabal and Miguel Angel Jimenez on Monday.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Stars
Today will be a busy day in the interview room.
Tiger Woods, Padraig Harrington, Geoff Ogilvy, Phil Mickelson, Trevor Immelman and Greg Norman are among the major champions who are scheduled to go to the press building and field questions.
All of those players are set for afternoon interviews except for Harrington, who is at 10 a.m.
That means you should be able to find the big stars on the course this morning or around lunchtime.
