Masters again reaching out to youths
Expect to see more junior golf fans around Augusta National Golf Club beginning today.
This is the second year the club has allowed ages 8 to 16 to attend the Masters Tournament free so long as they are accompanied by an accredited patron.
"It was a resounding success and will be continued this week," said Billy Payne, the chairman of the Masters and Augusta National.
Although rules apply, Augusta National is serious about building interest in the game and increasing the number of junior players. The Masters made the Par-3 Contest more kid-friendly Wednesday with expanded autograph sites, and Payne said the club has begun to study the development of shorter courses and practice areas that will be more conducive to youth play.
JUNIOR PASS PROGRAM
- Fans ages 8-16 can attend free when accompanied by an accredited patron (the person whose name appears on the series badge application) on tournament days. One child per patron.

- Juniors need not be related to the accredited patron to attend.
- Juniors must register at the ticket gate; patrons must show driver's license.
