WHERE TO GO: First tee

There continues to be a three-man rotation among the starters on the first tee at the Masters, headed by Fleming Norville.

Norville, of Augusta, is the senior starter. He is joined by fellow Augusta National Golf Club members Toby Wilt, of Nashville, Tenn., and Jim Blanchard, of Columbus, Ga.

Blanchard is the newcomer, joining Norville and Wilt in 2008.

Phil Harison, who served as the official starter and Pairings Committee chairman from 1947 until 2007, died last April.

MEET THE ROOKIE: Ross Fisher

The 28-year-old Englishman, who won the European Open in 2008, is making his Masters Tournament debut. He shot 3-under-par 69 on Thursday in his opening round.

Q: What were your experiences watching it on TV growing up?

A: Yeah, I've watched the BBC coverage. I've watched it, crikey, I would have been probably single figures, I would say, maybe 7 or 8, since I was watching it.

Q: Having visualized it so many times, how does the real thing compare?

A: You just get that extra buzz about the place, seeing the crowds on that first tee at a ridiculous time in the morning, even on the range here, and a legend like Mr. Palmer to start off the tournament, to hear those cheers, you know you're at a special place.

Q: Can you talk about how players such as yourself are totally on even footing now with Americans and how that may have changed through the years?

A: I just think it's great for the game. There's a lot more international players. I think from a personal European standpoint, it's great to see some of the Americans coming over and playing in Europe.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Cut day

The field is cut to the low 44 players and ties, plus anyone within 10 shots of the lead, after today's second round.

Tiger Woods owns the longest active streak of made cuts at 12, followed by Phil Mickelson at 11. Gary Player and Fred Couples hold the record of 23 in a row.

Jack Nicklaus is the all-time leader in making the cut at Augusta National with 37. Player is second at 30, followed by Raymond Floyd at 27.

The Masters Tournament instituted a cut in 1957.
