AUSSIE'S PERFECT SPOT: Bill O'Connor found a perfect vantage point beneath a tall pine at the dogleg of No. 9.
"You can see the tee in one direction," he said, "and you can check out the action on the green, too, especially if you have binoculars."
O'Connor was attending his first Masters Tournament -- all the way from New South Wales, Australia.
"To put it mildly, it's the dream of a lifetime for me," he said. "I got to see the practice rounds, the Par-3, and will be here all the way to the end."
His favorite Masters moment so far: "I had a close-up and nice eye contact with Gary Player, " he said. "I told him his shot was great, and he gave me a big smile and said, 'Thank you.'
''He's always been one of my all-time favorites."
WALKING IN THE SUNSHINE: Ed Poole, of Columbus, Ga., was enjoying Friday's breezy sunshine by following several of his favorite golfers: "We walked and walked and walked today," he said. "No. 7 is a great place to sit and wait for them to come by you, though. You can see the tee-offs on No. 3 and then walk over to 8."
His golfing buddy Jim Montag , of Hilton Head Island, S.C., also put plenty of miles on his shoes and was happy with the day's most exciting experience: "We got to see Kittleson hit an eagle," he said, referring to Florida State University sophomore Drew Kittleson's shot on No. 11.
TIME TO SHOP: Candace Collins, who attended the tournament with three fellow Charlotte, N.C., residents, spent much of the day shopping -- but had time to watch some golf, too.
"We were here all week and took lots of pictures of the flowers and the course earlier," she said. "The flowers are beautiful. Now we're getting all the presents taken care of before we go home."
