Sam Snead's prospects for winning his first Masters didn't look very good after he opened with rounds of 73 and 75.

They improved somewhat after his 67 in the third round, but he still trailed 54-hole leader Johnny Palmer. Snead's final-round 67 was all he needed -- it gave him a three-shot margin over runners-up Johnny Bulla and Lloyd Mangrum.

Snead was the first Masters winner to take home a green jacket, and that tradition is alive and well 60 years later.
