After a one-year hiatus, a fan favorite has returned to the food menu at the Masters Tournament.

Patrons feasted on the classic chicken sandwich Monday and offered mixed reviews of the item, which sells for $3. Last year, the sandwich was replaced by a chicken wrap.

Ryan Ard, of Atlanta, liked the sandwich just as it was prepared – a lightly fried chicken breast on a white bun. He was too hungry to add condiments before taking his first bite.

“It was excellent. Literally, I thought it tasted liked Chick-fil-A,” Ard said.

He said he would likely return for several more with a cold beer throughout the day.

Carly Ray Goldstein, of Florida, rated the sandwich average. It was easy to eat walking to the front nine, but
she wouldn’t go back for another, she said.

The sandwich lacked a crunchy outside and was served cold, said Laura Tillett, of Ashburn, Va. But it was a good first taste of the famed food for her inaugural visit to the Masters.

“It’s yummy,” Tillett said. “It’s actually fresh, too, so you know it’s recently been made.”

Bart Ellis, of Chesapeake, Va., held a chicken sandwich in one hand and a sweet tea in the other. He wanted a light breakfast before heading to the course.

“It’s definitely what I wanted,” Ellis said. “I needed fuel, but not too much.”
