Woodland makes second cut at Masters

Plenty of things have changed about Gary Woodland’s golf game this year.

One thing hasn’t: making cuts in a major.

For the second time in two Masters’ appearances – and sixth time in seven majors – Woodland is sticking around for the weekend. A 2-under 70 during Friday’s second round put Woodland at 1-under 143 for the tournament, just four shots off the lead shared by Jason Dufner and Fred Couples.

And while a bogey on No. 18 for the second consecutive day might have taken the shine off an otherwise stellar round, it hardly spoiled his most complete round since undergoing a complete swing overhaul in early January.

“Under the conditions, yeah, it probably was,” Woodland said of his round, which included five birdies and three bogeys and matching 35s on each nine. “I hit some wayward drives early, but other than that, I drove it well. I hit my irons pretty well and I putted pretty solid, so that was nice. Obviously, you don’t want to bogey the last, but I’m right back in the golf tournament.”
