Hello Josephine at Sunshine Bakery

Count the sun rises of 67 years of business at Sunshine Bakery. This bakery will fill you up with grandma's cooking. The bakery was opened in 1946 by the grandmother of Steven Kaplan, the owner and operator of Sunshine Bakery. "She was a really good cook and loved to feed people," Kaplan said. For the past 67 years, the restaurant has gone through many changes. However, the phenomenal service, original family recipes and casual atmosphere has kept the business running. If you've never tasted sunshine, then try the Sunshine Tea. You'll taste the special sweet and sunny mixture of tea and lemonade. Say hello to the Josephine! The custard filled, flaky, chocolate covered famous pastry is what Sunshine Bakery's customers love. It's their most popular dessert. "The favorite is the soup for me," Kaplan explained when asked what his favorite item on the menu was. Try the soup of the day while you're out. The bakery has won Best Soup of Augusta for over 25 years. Some people have said the split pea soup is the best in the United States. Kaplan raved about the food because of the kosher like products they use. He said that because of the products they use, the food just tastes better. "We're unique and we're special," Kaplan said. "We make really good products and have good prices." Open for breakfast and lunch, come try their wonderful, made from scratch soups, sandwiches and desserts. Sunshine hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
