2:25 p.m.:

The Masters has announced that play will be suspended for the day at approximately 2:30 p.m.

2:10 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Richmond and Columbia counties, beginning at 2:05 p.m.

1:35 p.m.

According to Masters officials, patrons will be allowed back onto the course at 1:45 p.m.

12:00 p.m.

Play has been suspended and entry gates are being closed because of the threat of inclement weather. Patrons are being asked to evacuate the course.

11:55 a.m.

Weather warning signs are now being posted on the course. Inclement weather is expected to occur within the hour.

11:35 a.m.

Per Masters Tournament officials, showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase in coverage after noon. Severe thunderstorms are expected to hit Augusta by 4 p.m. Rainfall is expected to average 0.75 to 1.25 inches.

At 1 p.m., there is a 60 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

8:50 a.m.

Practice rounds are underway for the 81st Masters Tournament, but it looks like bad weather will move in later today.

Some light rain has already fallen at Augusta National Golf Club, but the forecast is calling for thunderstorms this afternoon. They have potential to be severe with strong winds, heavy downpours and frequent lightning, especially after 3 p.m.

Rainfall is expected to total .75 to 1.25 inches today.

Tuesday is expected to be sunny and warm, but there’s an 80 percent chance of rain for Wednesday’s Par-3 Contest.

When the tournament begins Thursday, there is a 30 percent chance of morning showers. The rest of the week is expected to be clear.
